Good to know
Limited traffic zones
Old towns (Ostuni, the villages) often have restricted traffic zones: park outside the walls and walk up.
Beach clubs vs free beaches
Beach clubs offer paid sunbeds and services; free beaches are free but bare: bring an umbrella, towel and water.
Dinner times
Dinner is late here: many restaurants open from 8pm. In high season, always book.
The cover charge
Many restaurants add a small per-person cover charge ('coperto'): it's normal, not a scam.
Delicate plumbing
At home, don't flush paper or wipes: use the bins provided to avoid blockages.
Pharmacies & medical guard
Pharmacies rotate on-call shifts: the open one is posted in each window. For minor urgencies there's the medical guard.
